ART
ABOUT ME
Trained as an artist by my art loving mom, trained as an art teacher by a scientist! My love of art extends from my earliest memories of my self trained photographer grandad and his photos taken during his station in the desert in WW2 to the exciting artists I've met whilst working & studying.
I consider myself an artist who doesn't produce one style of Art as I am excited by all styles. I have a passion for graphite and Acrylic paint but I feel equally at home producing Posca Pen graffiti and recycled book sculptures. My photography is not limited in its style, I prefer camera work that allows me to be as creative as possible but I have still produced traditional wedding and event photography.
My artistic mission evolves as my influences grow. I am currently exploring Abstract styles as I investigate (my own) disability though art. My growing friendships and contacts are very important to develop a continued growth for my art.
Born in Birmingham UK in the 70's and educated in a Girls School I developed my love of art, music and drama through creating set designs and sound for productions and playing saxophone and piano as a hobby. Going on to study for a Law degree with the intention of becoming a barrister, my time spent working on Death Row in NC USA solidified my passion for art and an overwhelming desire to help young people. Returning once more to university and completing a Performing & Visual Arts degree (BA Hons) led to gaining a teaching qualification in Fine Art & Photography.
Many years of teaching guided me back into education to study a Fine Art Masters degree and get involved in the 'art world' once more with a focus upon producing work for others. I have exhibited my work across the country and have been shortlisted for the Visual Arts Open 2021 UK & International Emerging Artist Award 2021.
